THE HAVA VISION
The Help America Vote Alliance is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization with the ability to fill in the current gaps in the ecosystem & engage in political advocacy. We are building a robust network of attorneys and advocates across the country, ready to respond to attacks on voting rights and to support democratic principles. We will accomplish this by providing legal training on timely topics & deploy trained volunteers to work with progressive organizations of their choice. We aim to support state-elected judicial candidates who value justice, democracy, and voting rights.
Why HAVA?
HAVA fills a gap and urgent need.
No organization is focused on the long-term organizing and training of lawyers to help mobilize their communities & serve as year round, community based rapid responders.
Many of the most prominent legal organizations do not engage in electoral activity, are prohibited from doing so, or do not put significant resources into electoral activity.
PROGRAMS
Progressive Continuing Legal Education (CLE)
Attorneys need access to affordable CLEs that meet the moment. Courses will focus on issues related to justice, democracy, and voting rights. Sample topics may include: ICE raid protection, protecting and Representing Protesters, and specific topics related to voting, such as dealing with ICE at the polls. These courses will offer opportunities to partner with trusted organizations on specialized topics, such as immigration rights.
Legal Rapid Response + Communications
The current administration intentionally “floods the zone” with information and chaos as a method of distraction. A rapid response is critical to calming the masses and helping those unfamiliar with election law understand what these orders do and don’t do. HAVA would provide rapid-response information and talking points on major judicial decisions, events, Executive Orders, etc.
Justice Preservation Project
Republicans have been clear on their efforts to pack the courts. The Republican State Leadership Committee launched the “Judicial Fairness Initiative” to “ensure that the redistricting fights ahead in those states are ruled on by strong conservatives.” In 2025, they spent $2M on the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Progressives need to counter the conservative judicial efforts. HAVA aims to fill this need.
Voter Purge Education & Protection
With advances in AI technology and improved data standards, providing accessible information on voter purges and other voter trends will be a top priority for progressive organizers.
Southern Engagement Strategy
The South is projected to gain 9 congressional seats after the 2030 Census. More than 84% of that growth came from increases in Black, Latino, and Asian populations. If those predictions hold true, holding the “Blue Wall” will no longer be a winning strategy.
